2. Hosting and Content Delivery Network (CDN) via Cloudflare

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and delivered via a content delivery network (CDN) for fast loading. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.

When you visit our website, data is recorded in so-called server log files to ensure stability, security, and fast loading times. Cloudflare acts as our data processor in this context.

a) What data is processed?

If you use our website as a visitor without registering or otherwise actively entering data, the following data transmitted by your browser is processed:

  • Your IP address
  • Date and time of the request
  • Content accessed (specific page) and amount of data transferred
  • HTTP status code
  • Website from which the request came (referrer URL)
  • Information about your browser and operating system

b) Legal basis and purpose of processing

The processing of this data is technically necessary to reliably display our website and to ensure the stability and security of operations. This corresponds to our legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest also lies in using a specialized provider for hosting instead of maintaining our own server infrastructure.

c) Data transfer to the USA and storage duration

Cloudflare may also process data on servers in the USA. The data transfer is based on the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) of the European Commission and Cloudflare's participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework to ensure an adequate level of data protection.

According to the “Data Retention” section of Cloudflare’s privacy policy, personal information is stored only for as long as is consistent with the business purposes described therein; when the retention period expires, Cloudflare deletes or destroys it.

In principle, you have the right to object to the processing of your data. Whether such an objection is successful in an individual case must be determined through a balancing of interests between your rights and our compelling grounds worthy of protection for the processing (e.g. ensuring the functionality of the website). The processing of the data mentioned is absolutely necessary for the operation of the site.
